Our goal is to connect all actors in sustainable food systems.

What if the income generated in restaurants and hotels would stimulate sustainable food practices? Food Stories acknowledges efforts made by individuals and organizations to make gastronomy in South-Tyrol more sustainable. It collects actors in this network and brings them together in one place.


In order to ‘categorize’ efforts, three labels are in place for the connected restaurants and hotels. The labels are regional & seasonal, organic and vegan food.




How does Food Stories work?

The Food Stories network consists of three components: firstly physical items for customers in gastronomy, secondly the network and lastly an online environment through this website and social media. These three connect to each other to maximize the reach of the network.

Gastronomy items

Menu

In the menu, symbols can be used to indicate the sustainability characteristics of the different products. Moreover, there is an explanation about what sustainable food systems are. Lastly, there is a link to the Food Stories Network.

Buffet

For a buffet, for example for breakfast in a hotel, special cards can be used to indicate the sustainable characteristics of the dish.

Logo

For members, the logo can be used outside the restaurant to indicate that the restaurant is part of the food stories network. This makes it recognizable for customers.

The website shows different actors in the sustainable food system. It is collecting all the available products

We take care that we are present and visible, also online!

Network

The network

Being part of the network means being dedicated to work towards sustainable development in South-Tyrol. In return, we organize events, meetings and visit where you can meet all the relevant partners in the sustainable gastronomy food supply chain. We help you in the process of finding the right farmer, distributor, restaurant/hotel. Moreover, we advertise all of these sustainable initiatives on one website.

Landgasthof Zum Hirschen

Restaurant Patauner

Seit 100 Jahren bewirtet Familie Patauner nun schon Gäste in dem 1664 erbauten „Vogelmeierhof“ in Siebeneich, der heute unter Ensembleschutz steht. In der gutbürgerlichen, kreativ verfeinerten Tiroler Küche geben regionale und saisonale Produkte, vom Terlaner Spargel im Frühling bis zum Wildbret im Herbst, den Ton an.

Günther & Karin run an organic, Bioland certified farm with around 25 cows that are in the field every day. Moreover, they sell their own products under the "Hoamisch" name, also certified by the Red Rooster trademark.

Biokistl

We are a community of South Tyrolean organic farmers who have been marketing their products together for over 18 years. Twenty-five local farmers, as well as selected farmers from other regions of Italy, provide our wide range of fruit and vegetables. About thirty other regional producers expand our range with their additional products. The Biokistl stands for quality, consistent organic cultivation and sustainable management.

Südtiroler Gasthaus
